One of the most common questions I get is “how much does a Glowforge cost?” A Glowforge is not an inexpensive investment—here’s the breakdown for the different machines so you can make an informed choice!
UPDATE: The cost of the Glowforge machines significantly increased after March 25, 2022! Updated pricing is below. Save $500 using my Glowforge referral link!
If this is your first time hearing about a Glowforge 3D laser printer, check out my Glowforge Overview: What to Know Before You Buy. This post goes over all of this laser cutter, including the dimensions, the types of materials it can cut and engrave (including acrylic, wood, leather), and other key details.
While a Glowforge isn’t cheap, you can craft and create an amazing range of projects. It’s a great tool for both personal use and small businesses. You can sell items made on a Glowforge online and at craft fairs—think earrings, wood signs, acrylic projects, and more. In particular, I love how you can engrave handwriting to make personalized gifts. Check out my post on how to Make Money with a Glowforge to help offset the costs of the machine.
Yes, a Glowforge is expensive—but in my estimation it is TOTALLY worth it. I have had my machine for a year and a half and I love it.
Save $500 on a Glowforge Pro, $250 on a Glowforge Plus, and $125 on a Glowforge Basic.
What is the Difference Between the Glowforge Models?
Here are the differences between the three Glowforge models. Note that every machine is the same size and can cut and engrave the same materials (including interesting materials, like fabric, rubber, aluminum, marble, and more). The biggest differences is in the quality of the laser and the speed. The Glowforge Pro also gets you a passthrough slot for cutting large projects. I have a Glowforge Pro.
This will help you make an informed decision on which new Glowforge machine you want to purchase. Check out my Glowforge Overview for a more detailed analysis of each machine.
|Glowforge Basic||Glowforge Plus||Glowforge Pro|
|Engraving Speed||Standard||2x Faster||3x Faster|
|Cutting Speed||Standard||Standard||1.2x Faster|
|Warranty||6 Months||1 Year||1 Year|
I recommend the Glowforge Basic machine for crafters who just want to make their own personal projects, and the Glowforge Pro for those thinking of staring a small business.

What is the Price for the Glowforge Basic?
The Glowforge Basic is currently $3,995, plus shipping ($350).
What is the Price for the Glowforge Plus?
The Glowforge Plus is currently $4,995, plus shipping ($350).
What is the Price for the Glowforge Pro?
The Glowforge Pro is currently $6,995, plus shipping ($350).
What is the Price for the Glowforge Air Filter?
If you do not have a window to vent your Glowforge, you’ll need an air filter to go with your machine. The current Glowforge air filter price is $1295 plus shipping.
The cartridge within the air filter ($249) will also need to be replaced every so often—it varies depending on the types of cuts and engraving you do. This air filter cartridge also sells out sometimes on the Glowforge site, which is frustrating.
I HIGHLY recommend venting out of a window if possible—this makes a Glowforge more affordable overall.
