Keep kids active indoors with this fun and free printable “Roll the Dice” exercise game for kids! Just print, roll, and get moving with silly exercises like jumping jacks, toe touches, and dance parties.
Let’s be real—sometimes kids just need to move. Whether they’re bouncing off the walls before dinner or climbing the furniture because it’s too hot/cold/wet to play outside, you’re not alone in needing a quick and easy fix. That’s exactly why I created this printable “Roll the Dice” exercise game for kids!
It’s a simple idea that works like magic: print out the game, grab a die, and let the good times (and jumping jacks) roll. It’s perfect for getting out extra energy in a structured way that still feels like play. And let’s be honest—anything with dice feels a little more fun to kids, right?
In our house, we keep this printable in our rainy day activity bin (lots of rainy days here in the Pacific Northwest!), but it’s also come in handy on scorching summer afternoons, dark winter evenings, or anytime the “I’m bored!” chorus kicks in. It’s great for encouraging screen-free movement, building gross motor skills, and having a few silly family moments. Whether you’re a parent, homeschooler, or teacher, this exercise game for kids is a must-have in your activity toolkit.
This exercise game is pretty open ended so you can adapt it to your kid’s ages and needs and change up the number of movements or length of time as you go. My favorite is the dance party—we throw on Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling and just let loose. It is a fantastic stress reliever!
Things You’ll Need
This game is so simple and best of all, you hardly need any supplies! You’ll likely already have these on hand:
- The printable game sheet (you can download it below)
- A standard 6-sided die (or two if multiple kids are playing at once)
- Music (optional, but highly recommended for the dance party prompt!)
- A timer (optional, for setting activity duration—30 seconds works great!)

How to Play the Roll the Dice Exercise Game for Kids
Here’s how to get your kids up and moving in just a few minutes:
- Print out the game sheet and place it where it’s easy to see.
- Let your child roll the die.
- Match the number on the die to the activity on the sheet.
- Do that movement together for 30 seconds to a minute—or longer if your kiddos are having fun!
- Roll the die again and repeat as many times as you like!
You’ll find kid-friendly exercises like jumping jacks, toe touches, running in place, and even a dance party (our favorite!). This is not about perfect form—it’s about moving around and laughing. You can play for just a few minutes to get the wiggles out or turn it into a full session by doing several rounds.
Tips for Success
- Get involved! Kids are more likely to join in (and keep going) if you do the moves with them. Plus, it’s a sneaky way to get a mini workout yourself!
- Use it as a break tool. If your kids are doing schoolwork or remote learning, this game makes a great movement break between subjects.
- Make it a challenge. Time each activity and see if they can beat their own record for number of exercises.
- Adapt for younger kids. If your child is too young to read the sheet, you can read the prompts aloud.
Fun Variations
Want to mix things up? Try one of these variations:
- Create your own moves. Let the kids come up with new exercises and make your own version of the printable.
- Use jumbo dice. Giant foam dice from the dollar store make the game even more engaging, especially for little ones.
- Play in teams. If you have multiple kids, divide into teams and alternate rolls, or let them compete to see who can complete more exercises.
This exercise game for kids is such a great reminder that fitness doesn’t have to mean formal workouts or sports practice. Sometimes it’s just about getting the body moving, the heart pumping, and the giggles flowing. I hope this printable brings as much energy and joy to your home (or classroom!) as it does to ours!
