So happy to have Handmade Holidays! My favorite thing to give isn’t any one thing, I love selecting and crafting specific-for-you handmade items. The joy in receiving something handmade is that it is unique to you, and made for you, especially.

  2. says

I like to give handmade because it feels more personal and more heart-felt than a store bought gift. Making things is a huge part of what I do with my free time, so I like to share it when I can!

I love to receive handmade gifts, but giving them can be trickier, especially if the recipient isn’t really that into handmade things (I have yet to figure out how to make an iPhone!). lol! I do like to make everyone on my list an ornament and then save the bigger projects for those who I know really like handmade items.

  11. says

I’m the only one in my family to give hand made presents. I try and find out what the person needs or wants. I’ve made sweaters, t-shirts, nightdresses etc and this year I’m giving a peg bag, a camera case, an apron and a night dress. I love to see people using what I’ve made so there are certain members of my family I don’t give hand made to as they’re not as enamoured with it as the ones I do make for!

Great idea Cori. I work for a small business. We struggle on some days to pull people in. Not quite the same as the small shops here in virtual land, but I understand the need to support and buy from them.

  16. Brittney says

Handmade is the best because you get part of the giver with it in their choices of patterns and fabric as well as their loving hard work to put it together! Plus, you know that you have a unique, one-of-a-kind item :) Handmade items always spur my own creativity – they’re contagious!

  66. Jane says

Handmade – means made by the hands of the giver – with “premeditated” thoughtfulness. We usually give what we really know the receiver will just love – and we would love – so it’s a struggle sometimes to let it go. Ah – thanks for the chance to win such goodies.

  67. says

I love giving handmade because the person who receives the gift knows it was hand made especially for them.
For larger handmade gifts, such as quilts, I often include on my label, “Stitched with love for ___” This year I am making scrappy gifts and ornaments–a fun way to use up some scrap fabrics.
